In Ps. 131 David describes the subduing of his soul. The soul is the source of fretting and the spirit is the place of quiet. The work of the Spirit is to bring us to humility, weaning the soul (or flesh) away from ruling our mind and life. Peace and quiet come from living in and from the spirit.
