Daniel cared about this king. He could . . . because he was free of him by having no fear of him. Daniel well knew the One Who ruled over the king.
And by Daniel’s divine influence and care for him, Nebuchadnezzar, though he suffered, gained the only thing that matters in life: to recognize God – as HE IS! That’s what a man who knows the Most High would pray for a lost king.
