Suddenly the fingers of a man’s hand emerged and
began writing opposite the lampstand on the plaster of the wall
of the king’s palace and the king saw
the back of the hand that did the writing.

God appeared as “the Living God,” a title Darius gave Him. (Daniel 6:26) He presents Himself as a Person. That He is ‘living’ means He responds to us. He acts. He comes. He judges.
Our idols are safe. God is not safe. He is not containable, reducible or manageable. When He is done with our willful rejection of His Throne, He suddenly appears at our party. And the revelry of self indulgence, of other-worships is over.
We have largely ceased to know Him as the “Living God.” Terrifying by ruling. We have erased Him as a Person and lost the Biblical 'fear of God' by which Israel crumbled. This God we need to know.
One day, perhaps soon, HE is coming to the insane party of humanity. The "Living God" is this terrifying and His Hand is still real.
