The giant universe reveals God and points to His Son . . . for Whose delight it was fashioned and in Whose holy hand it is held. The heavens preside. Heaven rules the day, the night, the hour, the year . . . the crops, the tides. And we live ever under the lines drawn by the heavens above us. For us. If not to God, at least to the "lights," we submit. In the Heavens, the Father utterly rules, issuing life-in-light, down to us.

This word "light" used of God takes Him
straight into the realm of enigma, into the
barely knowable, the great beyond-us.
Light is a spiritual fundamental,
referred to many times in the New Testament.
It speaks of God's glory and transparency,
the fiery power of purity emanating from Him,
but the power of Light, the force of Light even
the definition of Light is a mystery.
Where He shines all is not only seen but purified
and actually becomes Light.
On whom he beams, luminosity is imparted.
The one on whom Light shines,
becomes filled with light.
Paul was struck by a voice bathed in light
so bright that it was blinding and
all around him fell down.
