Heaven’s Rule: The Light of the World Has Come!
Author: Martha Kilpatrick

The giant universe reveals God and points to His Son . . . for Whose delight it was fashioned and in Whose holy hand it is held. The heavens preside. Heaven rules the day, the night, the hour, the year . . . the crops, the tides. And we live ever under the lines drawn by the heavens above us. For us. If not to God, at least to the "lights," we submit. In the Heavens, the Father utterly rules, issuing life-in-light, down to us.

The lamp of the body is the eye
if therefore your eye is clear,
    your whole body will be
          full of light.

Matthew 6:22 NAS

Your "eye" is just this: your focus.
And your focus is simply . . .
the centrality of your affection.

Concentration comes out of the heart's lodestar
not the mind's supremacy.
Thoughts are ever the sprouts
of the heart-root . . . and not the reverse.

The heart sets the vital center.
The viewpoint of all seeing
is established there.

Your passion is your eye's focus and
is the love - or the hate -
with which you live captured.
So . . . your secret obsession is
really your eye's direction.
And your point of all reference, of
all perceiving, is that hidden compass.

In this passage, the brilliance of Jesus
points to the eye - to our looking -
as the place of light's entrance or blockage.
We stare at what we love, fear or desire.

Where your focus is, there is your god
and all your way of seeing.

When your eye is clear (or healthy) your
whole body is also full of light but when it is
bad (or evil), your body also is full of darkness.

Luke 11:34 NASB

Your body receives and bears
the effect of your focus
and your heart's centrality becomes eventually
the health of your mind and body.

The life that considers secret sin and
gazes only on its desires and appetites . . .
that life kills its own self and
drinks death merely by
attention to darkness.

Your point of concentration is the
very entry of your object and
becomes the state of your literal fitness.
You absorb your object through your heart's gaze.
You serve the fixation of what you "love"
and you become exactly what you observe.

Let your eyes look right on with fixed purpose
and let your gaze be straight before you.

Proverbs 4:25 Amplified Bible

What is your primary object?
You can know by your world of thought.
That is the direction to which your eye is turned.
You eye fixes on your object with
an unconscious stare fueled by constant choice.

You are the watching slave of
your heart's centrality.

Love not the world
neither the things that are in the world.

There is no space where you can balance
fascination with the world and adoration of Jesus.
To give value to both is
to lose the ability to behold either.

"...a double minded man, unstable in all his ways."
James 1:8

The human heart is fickle, capable of many loves
and double visions at once.
But the eye can see clearly only one object.

The heart's eye that beholds many objects
is clouded to them all.
Double vision causes actual blindness.

The heart must have one focus, one infatuation.
To look in this one direction
toward the heart's preference is
to have "a single eye."

Only one Object is worthy of sole devotion.
The heart finds its passion-home in the One God.

"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus,
the author and perfecter of our faith . . . ."

Heb. 12:2 NIV (emphasis mine)

The heart-gaze fixed on Him sees all else
through Him and by that focus,
has a clear and single eye.

And . . . a body full of light.
