The Four Faces of Jesus
The Four Faces of Jesus
Author: Martha Kilpatrick

The Lord Jesus has many names but He has four faces, symbols of His being. Four fascinating pictures of His endless wealth. Each one is a challenge to our measly idea of this unspeakably rich Son of God. Four sides, four manifestations of Jesus' character. Glimpses only, of His glittering facets. Few are those who can distinguish the four faces of Jesus. See His contrasting sides and know Him as He is . . . .

We can know and even follow
the soaring of Jesus
by the power of divinity . . . .

Jesus rose above his life as a human.
He set that Adam-flesh aside
and with divine consistency
lived an entirely Other Life:
the Father's actual Inside Presence.

And, amazingly,
Jesus never lived as the God He was.
He lived as man with God Inside.
His own Godhood had been left at the
foot of His Father's throne.

All His life's victory was from God,
God indwelling.

You, Father, are in Me and I in You . . . .
John 17:21 Amplified Bible

Jesus rested utterly on the current of the Divine Spirit
whose inner presence revealed the Father's will.

Jesus soared on the wind of the Spirit and
lived a life so utterly Above
and so manifestly Other,
that He was spectacular and strange
to a world of wingless people.

And His transcendence was by
an imparted power within
and not by His very identity as God!

He lived as a man indwelt by God but
His final dying was as God-without-Father.
Eagle no more, He screamed as one who
had no wings and no escape . . .
and though He died and the earth
cradled Him as one fallen,
He rose again in glorious transcendence
by His Father's return to that tomb in power . . . .

Contained by nothing natural,
free of every encumbrance,
in resurrection, the
Eagle flew free as never before.

And by His own indwelling us,
His Divine residence within, we
may live and fly as eagles by
His overriding presence,
free of earth and enemies . . .
soaring on the triumphant wings of His very Life.

but those who wait for the Lord
(who expect, look for and hope in
Him) shall change and renew their strength
and power: they shall lift their wings and mount up
(close to God) as eagles (mount up to the sun):
they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint or become tired.

Isa. 40:31 Amplified Bible

The life of the eagle is mine,
for the life of Christ is mine.
With me.
Inside, not over there.
To lift me, not push me.

Our Savior created the eagle in
that delightful day of His imagining.
And the eagle - as in all creation -
is a glimpse of Him,
just a minor picture of His
Godhood in the heavens,
that we might know Him.
And live . . . as Him in the world.
