The first "overcoming" is to conquer what is

the wrongness that lives unchallenged
in your primal self.
Jacob overcame the treachery in his own nature.
Ruth overcame her Moabite heritage:
the pagan idolatry of self-indulgence.
Joseph subdued intense bitterness against
his brothers' betrayal and
the natural human indignation
that God would allow it.

David conquered the lust for revenge that

The first "overcoming" is to conquer what is

the wrongness that lives unchallenged
in your primal self.

He overcame and He calls us to the same work.
What is the work? How do you overcome?
As to character flaws, the blood of the Lamb is
the only answer humanity can claim as a real
solution to sin and weakness.
The blood of the Lamb is awesome for it is:
the satisfaction of God and
the power of inner purity.
His blood is the final - and only - solution.
The blood cleanses when confession is made.
Confession is this alone:
accepting responsibility for
the naked heart's secret crimes
when the Holy Spirit lights them.
When the blood of the Lamb is
the only hope
for your ocean of sin,
you have overcome your own evil.
And the Blood of the Lamb is the defense,
full and absolute, to the
foul reminders of the taunting enemy.
There is nothing that can accuse
when the Blood is the answer.
The Overcoming Bride finds the simplicity of
the solution to her own vileness.
The righteousness so necessary to be the Bride
has been accomplished
for her and she merely receives.
"They overcame because of
the blood of the Lamb . . . ."
Rev. 12:11 NASB
The Bride declares with exuberance that the
Blood of the Lamb is sufficient.
Her answer to the accuser of the brethren,
her joyful victory over her own self
is the powerful Blood of the Lamb.
The Bride lives by and underneath the efficacy
of that Precious Blood, so costly to the
Savior who made Himself, a Meek Lamb.
And she becomes the joy of His ascension,
the satisfaction of His sacrifice.
She has received the dowry of her Bridegroom:
His own poured-out holy blood
and by that gift, she is clothed in
the brilliant whiteness of His purity.
The blood of the Lamb is the overcoming
of sin . . . of commission and omission . . .
and within this sacrifice
the Bride is cleansed for the
long awaited Marriage of the Lamb!
