The Bride Is Ready
The Bride Is Ready
Author: Martha Kilpatrick

A grave deception lies dormant like a sleeping sickness in the theology of the
church . . . an error with eternal consequences and unutterable loss. The error is this: that all believers, all born again Christians will be at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Christ's own words refute this. The Bride of Christ must meet specific requirements. His parables make such clear illustration of this, it is a marvel there can be such a serious mistaking of His teaching. Salvation is ever free. A gift. Unmerited and unearned by any effort or will. There is no work to be born again, only that of the work of Christ . . . but the Bride, that is another matter.

. . . he who accuses them before our God day and night,
and they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb
and because of the word of their testimony . . .

Rev. 12:11

Every life tells its matchless story.
A witness of the soul's journey rests in every person
and waits the expression of its focus.

The discovery of your personal meaning
becomes the history you will tell,
colored and shaped by
your version of understanding.

You will say the story. You will.
In word and deed you will offer the saga
of that central thing for which
you live and die.

The key character of your story will be named.
Be it self or country, lover or enemy,
that core one will be the tale you tell,
the witness of your life's entire meaning.

That FOR which you live, BY which you exist,
the thing you love or the object you hate:
you cannot cease to talk about.

You will always and ever
name the sun of your orbit.
You give witness to your god.

What you speak from the heart of your core
becomes that by which you will live or die,
that by which the Evil One can trip and catch you or . . .
flee in terror from you.

There is one testimony that overcomes the
Evil Force.

The one testimony of the universe,
the one victorious witness is what
the only Son of God did by obedience to
the Father He loved.

When Jesus is the Center of all meaning
and Christ is the source of very breath,
life becomes a constant declaration of
His might, His brilliance, and His succor;
His tenderness, His present Love.
Proclaiming Him who is the Word!
This is the only overcoming of evil.

Is the explanation of my accomplishment, Christ alone?
Is the story of my journey,
the testimony of His sovereignty?
Is the witness of my understanding, the knowledge of
this wondrous God?

Is my testimony simply Christ Jesus?
In all His sufficiency, by all His rescue?

If my testimony is all I have done for Him,
my defeat as my own god is certain.
If my testimony is even what I have suffered
nobly for God, my self exalted martyrdom
will pass the torch to burn up
my purpose by the hand of my enemy.

There is only One for whom the universe and
all its parts was formed and He is the answer,
the conclusion and the culmination.
Only Christ overcame the accuser and
now He alone overcomes for me,
to me and instead of me.

He is the overcomer and my testimony is that
He is.
There is no other testimony . . .
Jesus is, He has.

Any other witness will not silence or
overcome the accuser.
I have no testimony of anything of me.
All my witness is: He is all.

Jesus is all and that is the sole testimony by which I overcome "the serpent of old" (Rev. 12:9).

By Christ, I overcome. By Him, I silence the devil.
In Him I have Him and all He is.

I own no story,
only the wonder of His will that I should exist
and watch His conquest of me.

I have no victory but what He secured.
I need no testimony except who Christ is.

I exist for one reason:
to be a witness to the Overcomer, Himself!

And that is my own overcoming,
sheltered inside His.

These things I have spoken to you,
so that in Me you may have peace.
In the world you have tribulation,
but take courage;
I have overcome the world.

John 16:33 NAS
