New resolutions abound every January 1st. I think it is really more essential to do some work of resolution on the old year! I usually spend January reading over journals, considering the events of the past year and putting to rest what is over. Carole Nelson: "Forgetting what lies behind . . ."

Isa. 43:18
Do not call to mind the former things,
Or ponder things of the past.
Behold, I will do something new,
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it?
I will even make a roadway in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert.

Several weeks ago the Lord spoke a powerful word to me - an indictment, but also the way to true freedom.

"You must walk in forgiveness."

I realized I have allowed Satan to keep me in bondage by not accepting the complete forgiveness the Lord Jesus bought with His very Blood. In pride I have believed that I must "fix" the sin I committed only to learn painfully that I have only made it worse.

Watchman Nee says in the New Believer's Series, book #2, Terminating the Past, that God is not concerned with what we did prior to being saved (or prior to seeing and confessing our sin), He is only concerned with what we do afterwards. All that went before is washed, cleansed in the Blood of the Lamb. He is then concerned only with what we do from there. He terminates our pasts by His Blood alone!

Walking in forgiveness is my only protection against the enemies of my soul. If I have a sin that I have confessed, but not let go as from the east is to the west, by the Blood, then there is a door left open to the ungodly. They will accuse me by my own accusation of myself. I will excuse their evil done to me, by my refusal to accept the Blood over my own sin. I am "ensnared and trapped" by my own prideful unwillingness to receive as absolute payment, the Blood of the Lamb. No wonder He declares that "they did not enter His rest because of unbelief."

I say YES to His word to me. Yes, Lord, I must walk in forgiveness.
I say yes and AMEN!
