(J) Well Martha, living with you, and living with the Lord, is kind of like Easter every, every day. You just kind of go into life and ah, and do your little Easter egg hunt, where is the Lord going to be and where are the eggs going to be? And ah, so we’re here this morning, ah winter has certainly hit. It’s definitely, all the leaves are gone except for two real lovely Bradford Pear trees sitting out in front of your yard. We’re sitting in front of the fireplace so you’ll hear the crackles of the, ah, the fire. And the wind is blowing, ah, quite hard; it’s already snowed a little today. So anyway, let’s hear about the new Easter egg ah, that we have found hidden.
(M) I think I found the treasure Easter egg this morning. Actually I’ve been on it for about three days, and I asked you to come over and hear about this. But, there are several things I want to say first John. One is that this is really us sharing our Body life, isn’t it?
(J) Absolutely.
(M) And ah, we’ve heard from Jennifer Wentzel who has come to work for us, the daughter of one of our ah, closest members of the Body, but who doesn’t live in the mountains. And ah, so this is really our discovery, our struggles, our realizations and revelations. And it’s just, it’s really sharing our, the life of our Body isn’t it.
(J) Yeah, this is the walking out of our life with Him.
(M) Umhum.
(J) And how He chooses to reveal Himself each day with us.
(M) And solve us.
(J) Yes!
(M) And this is like a stream we’re in, this that, the things we’ve been on. And I want to say that with God’s dealings with us, everything is so simple. He takes it down so simply, and simplicity is a great prayer of mine in my writing. That’s one of the strongest things I want, I want it to be down to the simplicity. But I know that God deals with us one issue at a time. The whole of our journey is too complex to even look at. What’s in us is too complex to even consider, but just to hear this day, one day at a time, makes it possible to grow. The only… He taught me years ago, you grow a teaspoon a day, a meal a day.
(J) Hmmm.
(M) So. And then, it’s the same issues over and over again, just fuller, richer, like new, everything is new with the Lord every day. And you know I’m amazed at how God pursues and persists with us. He wants us, that is the most amazing thing. Especially in light of the things I’m going to share this morning. Then I have to review a little bit. Remember when we were in Isaiah 26, and we talked about the covenant with death, and that He has declared the covenant with death annulled.
(J) Absolutely.
(M) Remember when I brought to you the question, John why do people go back?
(J) Umhum.
(M) Who have seen Him.
(J) Umhum.
(M) And you said in the circumstances that come they believe that God’s not good in the circumstances. Ok, that was good. Then someone sent us the information on bitterroot judgment, which I knew that with the people I was dealing with it was a bitterroot. But in the bitterroot judgment sometimes we deal with specifics. And I want to read Heb. 12 about the bitterroot, (vs.) 15 through 17, “See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God, that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble and by it many be defiled.” This is really, really, one of our major scriptures, isn’t it John?
(J) Yeah.
(M) We go back to this over and over. “That there be no immoral or godless person like Esau, who sold his own birthright for a single meal, and who later, we know that even afterwards when he desired to inherit the blessing he was rejected, for he found no place of repentance though he sought for it with tears.” Ok. What is the covenant with death? We knew it was with Satan, but ah, what was it exactly that we entered into with Satan. You see, “The Great Lie” booklet declares that the lie is that God is not good. When you believe that God is not good, what you do is reject Him. This week I’ve been praying about a number of people just really intensely, saying God I want an answer. And He gave to me, just almost in this form, there’s only one issue and that is the rejection of God. Satan tempts us by defaming God with a lie. He tempts us to reject Him. And what I’ve seen in these lives, that the bitterroot judgment, of course is with God, but it causes you… When you deal with your life, as you said, in circumstances to define who God is, rather than nature and scripture to define who God is, and seeing your blessings, if you define God by your circumstances you’re always going to reject Him, because He doesn’t do what you like.
(J) Umhum.
(M) Every person… In fact it’s a juvenile temptation John, some of us never leave that juvenile temptation: I don’t like my body, I don’t like my eyeballs, I don’t like my hair, I don’t like my parents. It’s sort of an infantile thing, to not like anything in your life and blame it on God, when actually those factors He puts in your life are the key to your destiny. But many of us don’t ever leave that juvenile view of rejection, of not only our life, and of God, but of our very being, and it sets up a self-hatred.
(J) Umhum.
(M) Ok.
(J) Including ‘our story’.
(M) Yeah.
(J) Including how God has, has orchestrated the playing out of our life and the living of our life and the things that would challenge us and ah, you know, the stones that He’s placed in the way that we have to get, go over.
(M) Umhum. So we make ourselves God, and we want Him to satisfy us. And that is the rejection of God who is God. So we weigh events according to what God has not done, and judge Him for what He has withheld instead of what He has given. These are all temptations to believe the lie. And the result of believing the lie is to reject God, and what that does is it sets you up to reject everything in your life. You are not able to receive God’s love, God’s voice, God’s blessings, God’s people that He puts in your life. You are unable, even if you see it. What are you laughing about?
(J) Its just tragic.
(M) Its not laughter is it? It’s groaning.
(J) No. A little bit. Umhum.
(M) It sets you up that you are not able to receive anything that is of God. It explains a lot of things that I have witnessed in lives. And that’s why He gave me in the message of “The Great Lie”, “Accept, accept, accept your life, and the life I have given you, and then you will see the life I have given you.” You see you can’t receive your own life if you have rejected God who set it all up.
(J) Whewwwww.
(M) Its major. It is tremendous. And you can believe no truth, because when you enter into that thinking it becomes a stronghold, it becomes a prison you built thought-by-thought, brick-by-brick. And then it comes to the place where you cannot get out, you cannot see what prison you’re in. And though you can peek out the window and occasionally see God, and the light of God, and the gifts of God, they’re always separated from you. They’re outside that prison and you can never get to them. But it is a prison of thinking that you have built yourself. You’re swallowing hard there. Ah, ok. The reason that this passage goes to the, to the, Esau, it says don’t be like Esau. Bitterroot judgment is this, ah, “causing trouble, and that there be no immoral and godless person like Esau.” Ok, first of all he was immoral, because he was godless. He was godless because he rejected and was bitter with, I assume, his father and his brother Jacob. God Himself gave Jacob the family blessing, which is, normally goes to the first-born. God choose Jacob the second-born twin over Esau. “Jacob I loved, Esau I hated.” God can do as He pleases you see. And it was the test of will you accept God? So Jacob, being human thought he had to steal what God had given, and so he set up an enmity with Esau. And Esau apparently was bitter with his father and Jacob for the whole story. And so he indulged himself in whatever way his flesh at the moment wanted to be indulged. And that’s what we do when we have rejection. The addictions come from rejecting God. There’s some kind of power to live that comes to simply from accepting your life because it is God’s, and it is from God. This is so big, I cannot tell you; it’s nations, it’s ethnic groups, it’s the demise of so many people. And we are to help each other, and we do in this Body, we help each other with that root of bitterness, and we know when we’re being defiled by. But the big picture is rejection. And it becomes a stronghold that takes you over; as you used to tell me, a stronghold is a sin that is so given to Satan that it has a life of its own, and it controls you. That’s what a stronghold is. And there are many, many aspects of it. And what the Lord took me to… He spoke to me this and I started searching, where is it, where is it, that Jesus Himself talks about the strongman. And I remembered it as being the strongman has his house and only someone stronger than the strongman can take it over. But when I got into it I was amazed. And Jesus cast out demons and they accused Him of doing it by Satan, and He said, does Satan cast out Satan? No. Then He says, “If I cast out demons by the finger of God then the Kingdom of God has come upon you. When a strongman, fully armed guards his own house, his possessions are undisturbed. But when someone stronger than he attacks him and overpowers him, he takes away from him all his armor in which he had relied and distributes his plunder.” And what that means is Jesus is stronger than the strongman. The strongman is the satanic stronghold that owns a house and guards it and cannot be assailed. But when someone stronger than he attacks him and overpowers him, the strongman, he takes away from him all his armor he trusted in and distributes his plunder. And it’s in three of the gospels, in different situations. Following that is “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters.” In three places Jesus mentions this, this very thing; in Matthew, Mark and Luke. And so the Lord was saying to me, you’ve got the name of the strongman. So now that you… You used to tell me about warfare and that if you can ever get the name of the thing it’s over. And you said, I was telling you about someone that I had tried to work with, in the ministry, who I could not seem to break through. And you said, well let’s just annul the covenant of death; it’s done. And so we did on the air. Well by annulling the covenant of death over that one I began to get the name of the strongman. And so much of this I cannot share, but it is huge for multitudes of people. So the name of the stronghold is rejection. And what you feel in everything in your life is not that you’ve rejected God, but that God has rejected you. You ask and you don’t receive, so you assume its God’s problem and not yours. When you believe in His rejection and you live in that lie that He’s not good, then what you set up is the inability to receive. You, you set up a cold, hard heart. That as Hebrews, Paul in Hebrews writes, “an evil, unbelieving heart.” And it comes from bitterness unresolved, a lack of surrender to God’s order and His sovereignty and His will. And you can always be supported by the enemy, he always supports your bitterness and flatters you that you’ve been wronged. So, to me it’s a huge answer. The covenant with death is the covenant to reject God and choose Satan. And the rejection becomes such a prison.
