Watchman Nee became a Christian in mainland China in 1920 at the age of seventeen and began writing in the same year.  Throughout the nearly thirty years  of his ministry, Watchman Nee was clearly manifested as a unique gift from the Lord to His Body for His move in this age.  In 1952 he was imprisoned for his faith; he remained in prison until his death in 1972.  His words remain an abundant source of spiritual revelation and supply to Christians throughout the world.

  • Latent Power of the Soul

    Latent Power of the Soul

    $3.50

    Brief Description

Originally intended to be written following the completion of The Spiritual Man but not finished because of physical weakness and other demands on Watchman Nee. A more detailed description of the differences between spirit and soul, the latent power of the soul, and the falsification of the power of the Holy Spirit.

When in 1924 I first called the attention of God's children to the dividing of spirit and soul, many well-disposed brethren thought of it as merely a dispute over words having no great significance. What they failed to see was that our conflict is not concerned with word but with that which lies behind. The spirit and the soul are two totally different organs: one belongs to God, while the other belongs to man. By whatever names one may call them, they are completely distinct in substance. The peril of the believer is to confuse the spirit for the soul and the soul for the spirit, and so be deceived into accepting the counterfeit of evil spirits to the unsettling of God's work.

This series of articles had originally been intended to be written immediately following the completion (in 1928) of The Spiritual Man. But because of physical weakness and the heavy burden of other service, I was only able to have them published in last year's issues of Revival magazine. In response to the request of its readers, I now put forth this booklet.

The greatest advantage in knowing the difference between spirit and soul is in perceiving the latent power of the soul and in understanding its falsification of the power of the Holy Spirit. Such knowledge is not theoretical but practical in helping people to walk in God's way.

Just last night I was reading what F.B. Meyer once said in a meeting shortly before his earthly departure. Here is a section of it: "This is an amazing fact that never has there been so much spiritualism outside the church of Christ as is found today ... Is it not factual that in the lower part of our human nature the stimulation of the soul is quite prevailing? Nowadays the atmosphere is so charged with the commotion of all kinds of counterfeit that the Lord seems to be calling the church to come to a higher ground." Today's situation is perilous. May we "prove all things; hold fast to that which is good" (1 Thes. 5:21). Amen.

What is prayer? Are we really praying when we pray? Do we know the power of prayer? These matters and others must be understood if we would have a real prayer life and be effective in prayer.

In this little volume of collected messages given over a long period of ministry by the author, and which are now translated and published in English for the first time, Watchman Nee shares with us the lessons on prayer that he has learned through the years. He considers prayer to be a mystery, though not something that is incomprehensible. He views prayer as the greatest work to which men are called. It is a working together with God. Through it God's purpose is accomplished and Satan's intentions are broken. And its benefit to the one who prays is something great as well.

Let is therefore follow the admonition of our blessed Lord, who said: "Rise and pray" (Luke 22:46).

  • Life that Wins, The

    Life that Wins, The

    $5.00

    Brief Description

If you relate with Romans 7:24 "Wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me..." then this book will open the truth to you that the life that wins is not attained, but obtained - it is not a life changed but exchanged. This is because it is not the life which is in you, but the life of Christ who lives in you. This is the life that wins!

Do you know the life that wins? Are you ashamed of the kind of Christ life you live? Have you failed so terribly in your striving for victory that you cry out, "Wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me...?" (Rom 7:24). Be assured that your salvation is at hand: "thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord" (v 25). For the life that wins is not attained, but obtained. It is not a life changed, but rather a life exchanged. It is not suppression, only expression. It is frankly not in you yourself, because it is in Christ who lives in you. The life which God gives and you receive at the time you believe in His Son Jesus Christ is such a life. It is a life that overcomes sin, provides intimate communion with God, and is full of satisfaction and power. It is already in you, waiting to be explored by you. The secret towards experiencing its power is to let go of yourself and let Christ live instead of you. This requires a childlike faith. Then shall you more than conquer through Him who loves you.

In order to help believers into enjoying this life that wins, Watchman Nee delivered a series of messages on this subject at a conference held in Shanghai, China, in the months of September and October 1935. He dealt with the full range of this important subject in his usual thoroughness yet simplicity and directness. At that conference, the author began with the believer's personal experience which, shamefully, is much less than desired. Then, by contrast, he described the kind of Christian life as ordained by God. Next, he dealt with the nature of this life that wins before he showed the way of entering into it. In more detail, he treated the matters of yielding and believing which are the conditions for crossing the threshold of victory. But the author of these messages then warned his audience of the testing of faith which must follow. He exhorted believers to grow in the grace of Jesus Christ. He stressed also the need for having the note of triumph, which is praise. And finally, he concluded with the first and last act after victory, which is consecration.

These messages are now being translated from the Chinese for the first time and presented to the readers in book form. May the Lord of glory be glorified through His life being lived out in His own.

  • Lord My Portion, The

    Lord My Portion, The

    $4.50

    Brief Description

In both Psalms and in Corinthians the Lord is described as "our portion" in this life. This book is a devotional of daily readings taken from various publications calling us to know and experience Christ as our portion - as our all.

"The Lord is my portion." So said the psalmist (Ps 119:57 NASV) and Jeremiah (Lam 3:24), and in so saying, they declare that their portion in life is none other than the Lord himself. The New Testament expresses the same thing, when Paul tells how Christ "was made unto us wisdom from God, both righteousness and sanctification and redemption" (1 Cor 1:30mg.) That Christ Jesus is now the portion of His people is a fact which lies at the heart of the gospel, and our discovery of this fact makes His grace and presence to become real to us.

The daily readings found in this devotional have been taken from the most recent publications of Watchman Nee. Although they cover a number of different topics, they seem to contain a call to us to know and experience Christ as our portion - as our all. It is with the hope that God's people may be helped to know the Lord as their daily portion that this book has been prepared.

The Mind Behind the System -- There is an ordered world system governed from behind the scenes by Satan. This system encompasses politics, education, literature, science, art, law, commerce, music -- anything involved in the progress of mankind [humanism].
      2. The Trend Away From God -- No matter how good the intial intentions, all organizations created by mankind eventually turn away from Godly power to worldliness. When the influence of divine Life is removed, organizations gravitate towards materialism, humanism, worldliness, and Satan.
      3. A World Under Water -- Salvation is our translation from the corrupt world system ruled by Satan to the Kingdom of Heaven ruled by Christ as our Head and our Lord. In the ceremony of baptism, we pass through water to represent this transition.
      4. Crucified Unto Me -- The world system is under the sentence of death. It has been crucified as was our flesh with Christ. Knowing this, we cannot place in it any hopes for our future. Our only hope is in Christ.
      5. Distinctiveness -- We are called out of the world to be born from above. This gives us an otherworldy aspect which sets us apart from the world and causes it to hate us. The world may appreciate our good works, but it cannot abide the Spirit-imparted Life which has been given to us.
      6. Lights in the World -- God has placed us in the world to shed the Light of His Life on it, revealing its rebelliousness, hollowness, and emptiness. Then we are to proclaim the good news of the gospel which is that all men can be freed from the world's emptiness by turning to the Light and accepting it.
      7. Detachment -- We are placed in the world to spread the gospel. While we should not avoid interaction with worldly things, we must not become attached to them. We must be ready to leave it all behind should God command it.
      8. Mutual Refreshing -- As we pass through the world, we are bound to "get our feet dirty." It becomes very important then, for us to "wash one another's feet." When we encourage one another and minister
