"For [in the gospel] is revealed a righteousness of God from faith unto faith; as it is written, but the righteous shall live by faith" (Rom 1:17). Thus declares the apostle Paul. In his explanation of this passage, John Calvin wrote: "From faith, for righteousness is offered by the gospel and is received by faith. To faith, for as our faith makes progress, and it advances in knowledge, so the righteousness of God increases in us at the same time, and the possession of it is in a manner confirmed."
In this present volume, Watchman Nee deals with various subjects which demonstrate this essential principle of "from faith to faith." He commences with such topics as "the truth shall make you free," the principle of the second, and circumcision - so as to unveil how the gospel of Jesus Christ is based on faith and not works. He continues with such matters as God's will and man's willingness, the blood and worship, the seed of God and the power of pressure - so as to disclose how the same gospel is to be experienced increasingly through faith in the Lord Jesus. Lastly, he concludes by contrasting Lot as a defeated righteous man with Enoch who by faith was translated that he should not see death.
All in all, this presentation can give us a right perspective of the gospel of Jesus Christ as well as help us to walk in the path of faith. "Now to him that is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, ...[which] is made known unto all the nations unto obedience of faith: to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever. Amen" (Rom 16:25-27). - Be the first to Write a Review
