The Heavens Declare
“One who reads will not find light. One who reads listening will be illumined in the light of the Author, and the ordinary words imbued with Light, the very radiance of God.”
Martha Kilpatrick, “The Light of the Word”
The Heavens Declare the Glory
The further humanity explores out into the vastness of the heavens, the more magnificent we find them to be. Each new image provided by ever-improving telescopes is breathtaking in scope and beauty. And that is by design.
The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows His handiwork.
The aching beauty of a clear night-sky can inspire awe in even the darkest, most profane soul. The heavens are an ever-present reminder that there is a Mystery beyond our knowing yet within our reach, a love letter writ large above us all. But the heavens were not intended simply to inspire wonder and ignite our spirits. They affect our daily lives, both practically and spiritually.
Heaven’s Rule, a 17-part article series, was first published in 2003. It is now available on ReadMK.com, the online library of Martha Kilpatrick. These articles explore the sun’s light and the Light of the Son, celebrating the power and purpose of both.
The never-ending mystery and joy of reading Spirit-filled words is just how intimately they interact with our hearts. A paragraph on the properties of sunlight becomes a revelation of God’s presence in a difficult situation.
A sentence describing Jesus as the Word becomes a discovery of His voice calling to you specifically.
And a scripture so familiar as to be rote suddenly exposes the hidden desire of your heart in a wash of Light undeniable.
This series is not just a study of the heavens. It is an invitation to engage with the blindingly bright and glorious Love that created them in the first place.
